This is a New Music Streaming App made by YouTube that allows you to stream different genres of music online for the moment you are in and also enables you to seamlessly switch between songs and videos. The new app helps you expand your music horizon using your interest. YouTube is the number 2 top search engine in the world after google. 2 billion monthly users log in on YouTube.

The Head of YouTube Partnerships in Nigeria, Addy Awofisayo gave a lecture on the Landscape of YouTube music in Nigeria and its importance to the Nigerian audience. YouTube is the gateway for Nigerian artistes to reach a global audience. It allows Nigerians to discover their artiste more with a platform that allows them access to all the works of their favourite artists. It enables fans to connect to artists and artistes closer to their audience.

YouTube Music has different sessions built for you. Different playlists for the moment you are in. On the app, there is a context of what you like and a situation of what you are doing i.e. the activity you are engaging in at the moment.

The Youtube music for everyone allows you access to New releases, home screen recommendations, mood/location-based playlists, offline mixtapes and smart downloads, Artiste page/subscriptions, Library (artists), expanded catalogue e.g live versions and lot more.

According to Addy Awofisayo, they have a team of dedicated Nigerian music programmer who curates music on the app. Adetutu Lateef who works with the organisation talked on the importance of music. Music cuts across nations, audience and race. It connects everyone.

She categorised this into 3 points. Memories, mood and Emotion. Music helps us remember, the getting together, the breakup, the people we share our moments with, the places we travel and the things we do there. Music also invokes mood with its power.

It makes us smile, cries, laughs. It motivates us to run that extra mile, to hit the dancefloor, to get out of bed in the morning. And expanding the point she made on emotion, she said music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.
