This collaboration will see Trace content integrated into the HUAWEI Video app as a Video on Demand partner in the Middle East and Africa. The service is currently only available in South Africa and will be rolled out to other markets later, in stages.

“It is with great excitement that Trace is launching as one of our premium HUAWEI Video partners in South Africa. Trace’s localised approach produces premium content that showcases Afro-culture and spans across various genres and languages, perfect for our users to watch on their Huawei devices. This partnership supports our strategy to bring more choice and the best possible HUAWEI Video experience to our device users.”

Sun Jun, General Manager of HUAWEI Consumer Business Group SA

Trace’s content adds to the 10,000 hours of free content and 4,000 hours of paid content already available on the HUAWEI VIDEO platform, which spans multiple genres including news, sport, series, movies, kid’s programming and more.

“We are proud and delighted to have been chosen by HUAWEI as a strategic content partner for the HUAWEI Video app. Thanks to this partnership, we will deliver the best quality short-form content and Afro-Urban entertainment to a vast global audience. This will be a game changer for many talented African artists that will share their creativity to millions of people from all over the world. HUAWEI is an exciting new partner that understands Africa and the need for African stories to be told globally”.

Olivier Laouchez, CEO and Co-founder of Trace notes

Trace offers authentic African music and aspirational stories. All of the content shines a light on Afro-Urban culture, allowing music fans to discover the beauty of its culture in all its forms. Through short-form content, Trace aims to empower not only the storytellers behind these stories but audiences who long to see their own lives and aspirations reflected in the content they consume. This aim to empower is one that is shared by HUAWEI. Huawei users can now enjoy local and international short-form content, typically between 5-30 minutes in duration. The content is optimised for mobile viewing, meaning it can be watched anywhere, anytime and on any smart Huawei mobile device.
