Airtel Africa Receives $375M in its Minority Stakes Sales

As a part of its minority stake sales for its mobile money unit, Airtel Africa has announced that it has recieved $375 Million from Qatar Investment Authority, Mastercard and The Rise Fund.

Airtel Africa’s senior executive, Simon O’Hara, has issued a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited which discloses the details of the transaction. The disclosure stated that $150 Million have been disbursed by the QIA for the shares of Airtel Mobile Commerce BV and the additional amount will be disbursed in the second installment.

All three investors are expected to pay approximately $125 Million to Airtel.
