Tigo Tanzania Appoints Wakandi Group to Accelerate its Fintech Services

Tigo Tanzania has announced that they have come into an agreement with Wakandi Group AS to accelerate its digitzed financial services.

Leading digital lifestyle company, Tigo Tanzania, has signed an agreement with Wakandi Group AS, a Norwegian company to accelerate digitized financial services for registered SACCOS and Microfinance Institutions through Tigo Pesa.

Tigo Pesa has integrated its payment platform with Wakandi’s Credit Association Management System (CAMS) for SACCOS and microfinance institutions to manage their financial services effectively and digitally, without needing any installations or purchasing of servers.

“SACCOS are now more mature, and they need more sophisticated financial management platform. They store huge amounts in savings, provide loans, and manage interests. This is, therefore, an opportunity for Tigo Pesa to collaborate with Wakandi to digitize all SACCOS transactions across the country.”

Wakandi has a large customer base throughout the Eastern African region therefore this partnership provides us with a competitive advantage to reach the financially excluded population in Tanzania and most especially in the SACCOS space. Members can use their Tigo Pesa wallets to contribute to their SACCOS deposits and repay the loans through the same channel, Tigo Pesa.”

Angelica Pesha, Chief Officer, Mobile Financial Service (Tigo Pesa)

“We, at Wakandi, aim to reach newer heights with Tigo Pesa and help SACCOS move into the digitized financial realm. It is an opportunity for us to establish ourselves deeper into the Tanzanian market. This partnership is a significant step in our journey of offering a completely cashless experience in Africa.”
