For decades, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona has been the prime annual trade show in the mobile communications industry. It is the one event that brings all the major players in the connectivity sector under one roof.
This year’s edition will take place between February 28 and March 3, and will run both virtually and in-person. Organizers of the event, GSMA, have expressed delight that exhibitors will be physically present at the expo in Barcelona. They have also assured that proactive measures will be put in place to keep all participants safe upon arrival.
The MWC 2022 will be held under the theme “Connectivity Unleashed,” with sub-themes in 5G Connect, Advancing AI, Fintech, Internet of Everything, CloudNet, and Tech Horizon.

In a related development, the Mobile Commerce Thought Leadership Breakfast will also kick off on February 28 in Barcelona. It is being held to give technology pundits a platform to discuss the major pitfalls of the African mobile commerce sector and the potential for change.
