Airtel Kenya to Pay $17.5 Million to Kenyan Telecom Regulator

Recent reports have surfaced the news of Airtel Kenya and Communications Authority of Kenya reaching an out-of-court settlement over a seven-year legal dispute.

In recent events, it has been reported that Airtel Kenya and the Communications Authority of Kenya have now reached a settlement over its legal dispute over the case of an expired permit in a transaction with the Essar Group.

Reportedly, Airtel Kenya now has to pay $17.5 Million to the Communications Authority towards a license approval.

“We’ve had this long-standing dispute with Airtel over the Essar transaction..the dispute has been there for seven years but I am glad we struck a deal, and this is a major achievement for us.”
