A few latest reports have suggested that the Qatar Investment Authority has shown an active interest to acquire a 20% stake in Vodafone Egypt from Telecom Egypt.

The sources have further noted that while no official offer has been made, the acquisition transaction is expected to complete by the end of 2022.

The deal is expected to help accelerate Egypt’s economy which has since taken a blow following the Russian-Ukrainian War.

As of right now, Telecom Egypt holds a 45% stake in Vodafone Egypt with the UK’s Vodafone Group owning the majority with 54.9% of the company.
