William Mzimba, the CEO of Vodacom Business, will resign from his position at the end of September 2023, according to Vodacom Group. Mzimba joined Vodacom in 2018, replacing Vuyani Jarana, who had left to lead South African Airways. Vodacom has not disclosed the details of Mzimba’s future plans or his successor.

As the head of Vodacom Business, Mzimba had the responsibility of overseeing the enterprise units of the organization across Africa. Vodacom Business is the business-to-business unit of the telecom operator, focused on driving digital transformation in specific industries and markets.

During Mzimba’s tenure, Vodacom Business acquired a controlling stake in local IoT startup IoT.nxt in 2017. The move aimed to capitalize on the opportunities in the local IoT market and leverage IoT.nxt’s expertise in the field.

Prior to joining Vodacom, Mzimba spent 18 years at Accenture, where he held the positions of CEO and chairman of Accenture in Africa. He played a crucial role in shaping Accenture’s growth and strategy.

Mzimba’s qualifications include an MBA, a BA (Honours) in Business Studies, a Management Advancement Programme, and a Diploma in Datametrics. His extensive experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors has contributed to his successful career.

Vodacom Group is expected to announce Mzimba’s successor in the coming months as it prepares for a smooth transition in leadership.
