In a significant stride forward, du, a part of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), has commenced the implementation of cutting-edge multi-carrier aggregation technologies within its operational wireless network. This innovative move involves the aggregation of 3 carriers, each with a bandwidth of 100 MHz, in the C-Band, combined with the 2.6 GHz band. This strategic integration of carriers is set to result in a remarkable threefold increase in data speeds, enhancing the user experience for individuals across the UAE.

According to Saleem AlBlooshi, Chief Technology Officer of du, this initiative underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to meeting the growing connectivity demands of UAE consumers. He envisions a future where bandwidth requirements will surge significantly, and the deployment of multi-carrier aggregation is a proactive response to this emerging trend. The move aligns with the UAE’s broader vision of integrating technology and innovation into all aspects of daily life.

One of the primary beneficiaries of this multi-carrier aggregation strategy will be du’s Home wireless services, which were introduced to the UAE market in 2021, rapidly gaining popularity among thousands of users. This deployment is a pivotal step in expanding the capabilities of home broadband services, geared towards accommodating high-bandwidth, low-latency applications such as AI, 8K video streaming, metaverse experiences, and UHD cloud gaming. The new setup ensures that du’s subscribers can continue enjoying bandwidth-intensive applications with ease.

Notably, du holds a track record of innovation, being the first to introduce 4G-based and 5G-based home wireless services in the UAE. With this current deployment, du is poised to offer advanced 5G home wireless services, enabled by 3CC (3-carrier aggregation) technology, providing yet another layer of value to its customers.

In a fast-evolving landscape, this step reinforces du’s position at the forefront of technological advancement, offering customers cutting-edge solutions and enabling a seamless digital future.
