Safaricom’s CIO Unveils M-PESA Standing Orders during E-Mobility Launch

George Njuguna, Safaricom’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), revealed the forthcoming introduction of standing orders on M-PESA. He uploaded a video of his speech via X (formerly Twitter) during the E-Mobility initiative launch in Mombasa.

He mentioned that this is a global first for mobile platforms, aimed at enhancing financial accessibility and affordability in Africa’s Kadogo Economy. Njuguna also hinted at broader applications for this innovation, possibly in healthcare and more. This announcement underscores Safaricom’s commitment to financial inclusivity and innovation.
