Women in Tech Malawi has introduced the She Code Africa Lilongwe Chapter, a new branch aimed at supporting and empowering programmers in Malawi. This initiative is part of the broader Women in Tech Malawi community, dedicated to fostering inclusivity and advancement in the tech industry.

Recently, members of Women in Tech Malawi collaborated with the She Code Africa Lilongwe Chapter for their inaugural in-person meet-and-greet event. Through this gathering, a shared narrative emerged, highlighting the challenges faced by women in the tech field. Issues such as underrepresentation, both on a local and global scale, were acknowledged, underscoring the collective determination for change.

The She Code Africa Lilongwe Chapter is committed to driving transformation in the following ways:

  1. Building Communities: The initiative aims to establish tech communities within schools and universities to inspire the upcoming generation. Additionally, it encourages established professionals in the industry to mentor and guide emerging talents, thereby ensuring a smoother path for aspiring women in tech.
  2. Skill-Building: The She Code Africa Lilongwe Chapter provides resources and support to assist women in developing the essential skills needed for success in the tech sector.
  3. Advocacy: The initiative actively advocates for equal opportunities and recognition for women in the tech industry, striving for a more inclusive and equitable landscape.

Through initiatives like the She Code Africa Lilongwe Chapter, Women in Tech Malawi is working towards creating a more diverse and inclusive tech community, where women have equal opportunities to thrive and excel in their careers.

At She Code Africa Lilongwe Chapter, we align our mission with Women in Tech Malawi’s broader vision. Together, we are committed to fostering a thriving ecosystem for Tech Women in Malawi, but our focus is mainly to help Programmers and Software Engineers thrive in their field. We believe in the potential of every coder, regardless of their background, and we are dedicated to providing them with the resources, mentorship, and opportunities they need to excel in the world of technology.
