Airtel Africa has launched Nxtra by Airtel, a new data centre business to address Africa’s growing demand for reliable and sustainable data capacity, fuelling the continent’s digital economy.

Nxtra will establish a network of high-capacity data centers strategically located in major cities across Airtel Africa’s footprint. Coupled with Airtel Africa’s extensive fibre footprint, Nxtra offers secure and scalable integrated solutions to global hyper-scalers, large African enterprises, startups, SMEs and governments.

In addition, Yashnath Issur, former head of Global Data Centre Portfolio Management at Amazon Web Services, has been appointed CEO of Nxtra by Airtel, bringing 16 years of industry expertise to lead a team dedicated to executing this strategic vision.
