Digitel Launches South Sudan’s First 5G Network in Historic Trial

Digitel, has made history by becoming the first company in South Sudan to launch a 5G network.

Paul Onek, Chief Technology and Information Officer of Digitel South Sudan, announced the successful 5G trial launch in Juba via LinkedIn. He expressed excitement about this historic achievement, crediting the success to the efforts of the Digitel team and their collaboration with ZTE Corporation.

The trial utilized a 60MHz spectrum in the 3.5GHz band, achieving a maximum speed of 1.2Gbps on a Non-Standalone (NSA) architecture. This advancement paves the way for enhanced connectivity and technological growth in South Sudan.

This marks a significant milestone in the country’s technological advancement.
