Segun Ogunsanya, the outgoing CEO of Airtel Africa, has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) 2024. This annual event, organized by Africa Leadership Magazine (ALM), recognizes outstanding corporate practices and leaders in Africa’s business landscape.

Ogunsanya will receive his award at a special ceremony during the 9th ALM Africa Summit, held from July 17-18, 2024, at the UK House of Lords. The summit, themed “Africa Unleashed: Navigating Disruptions, Enhancing Opportunities,” will gather policymakers, business leaders, and stakeholders from across Africa and the globe.

During his 12-year tenure at Airtel Africa, Ogunsanya significantly contributed to the company’s growth, leading it to achieve double-digit revenue growth and introducing innovative products across the continent. He has over 35 years of experience in banking, consumer goods, and telecommunications, with prior leadership roles at Coca-Cola Bottling operations in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya, as well as at Ecobank Transnational Inc.

I am truly humbled by this recognition alongside such other distinguished Africans. It truly belongs to all those who have been on the journey with me at various times. My career has been focused on serving the needs of people across the continent, most recently through enhanced digital and financial inclusion. I remain determined to help make Africa a better place for its people, and hope my journey inspires the next generation of Africa’s business leaders.

Segun Ogunsanya, Outgoing CEO, Airtel Africa

After retiring from Airtel Africa on July 1, 2024, Ogunsanya will serve as the inaugural Chair of the Airtel Africa Charitable Foundation, continuing his dedication to sustainability and development in Africa.
