NCC Denies Telecom Tariff Hike, Urges Transparency in Existing Plans

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has firmly denied reports circulating online about the approval of new telecom tariff plans or any increase in tariffs. The NCC has advised the public to disregard such information, labeling it as inaccurate.

In an official statement, the NCC emphasized that it has not sanctioned any changes to the current telecom tariffs. Instead, the commission has issued a directive to all telecom operators to simplify their existing tariff plans. This directive aims to ensure that these plans are presented in a transparent and fair manner, enabling consumers to make informed decisions.

The NCC’s mandate focuses on protecting consumer interests and promoting transparency in the telecom sector. By requiring operators to clarify their tariff plans, the NCC seeks to enhance consumer trust and ensure that users receive fair value for their services. This move is expected to foster a more transparent and competitive telecom market in Nigeria, benefitting consumers across the country.
