Tunisia Enforces SIM Card Regulation to Enhance Security

August 19, 2024

In Tunisia, authorities are reportedly taking firm steps to address the growing issue of unregistered SIM cards. According to reports, the Ministry of Communication Technologies, in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Authority (INT), has instructed telecom providers to disable any SIM cards that lack proper identification.

This move is reportedly part of a broader strategy to ensure that all active lines are tied to verified IDs, with services only being restored once the necessary documentation is provided. Tunisia’s initiative reflects a broader trend across Africa to tighten regulations around SIM card usage and enhance security measures.
