Kenyan Government Partners with Huawei on Cloud Computing Security Training
The Kenyan government has forged a strategic partnership with Huawei Kenya to enhance cloud computing security across its public sector. This collaboration, spearheaded by the National Computer and Cybercrime Coordination Committee (NC4), aims to bolster cybersecurity capabilities through targeted training programs.
Under this initiative, 200 government officers from various ministries, departments, and agencies have undergone specialized training in cloud computing security. The graduation ceremony for 71 technical officers, attended by Dr. Raymond Omollo, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, underscored the significance of this program.
The training aligns with the Computer and Cybercrimes Regulations of 2024, which are crucial for protecting Kenya’s critical information infrastructure. Given that government-operated systems are classified as critical infrastructure, it is imperative for these departments and agencies to adopt robust cybersecurity measures. The program not only enhances the security of data and communication networks but also strengthens inter-departmental cooperation and cybercrime reporting efforts, thus fortifying the country’s defense against cyber threats.
