The Kenya Space Agency (KSA) has announced the top five teams set to advance to the second phase of the Space Tech Mission Idea Contest (ST-MIC) Training and Bootcamp. This follows a rigorous selection process that began with over 40 mission ideas submitted by various universities across the country. From these, 20 mission ideas, each represented by a team of four students, were shortlisted for Phase 1 training.

The first phase, conducted from 22 July to 16 August 2024 in partnership with Teaching Science and Technology Inc. (TSTI), provided students with a solid foundation in theoretical knowledge and helped refine their mission concepts through an online “Understanding Space” course.

After a comprehensive evaluation, the KSA, in collaboration with TSTI, has selected the top mission ideas to proceed to Phase 2. The advanced training and bootcamp, in partnership with the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI), will be held at the Luigi Broglio Malindi Space Centre from 28 October to 8 November 2024.
