South Africa’s public broadcaster, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), is reportedly expected to record another substantial annual loss of R590 million for the 2023/2024 financial year. According to several reports that have surfaced, the SABC has acknowledged that the current budget highlights the organization’s ongoing financial distress.

Reportedly, the broadcaster’s expected woes are attributed to a range of factors, including declining revenue, rising operational costs, and increased competition from digital and private media outlets.
