Bayobab Connects East Africa with 1,000km Fibre Network Along Kenya Railway Route

Bayobab Kenya completes 1,000km fibre network, boosting connectivity across Kenya and interconnecting East African nations.

Bayobab Kenya has made remarkable strides in connecting Africa, with the successful completion of a breakthrough long-distance fibre network, extending from Mombasa to Malaba and Busia, and further interconnecting with Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

This strategic infrastructure, following the Kenya Railway’s metre gauge route, spans over 1,000 kilometres, offering a vital opportunity for towns along this route to access reliable internet connectivity.

This new fibre route complements the previously established network along the Kenya Pipeline route, providing essential diversity and resilience for carriers seeking robust connectivity solutions. It is also a key milestone in Bayobab’s Ambition 2025, aimed at constructing 135,000 kilometres of proprietary fibre across Africa, and represents a transformative step towards a more connected and empowered continent.

This project is about connecting communities and businesses, creating opportunities, and delivering a modern connected life to more people across the continent. We are confident that this initiative will be a game-changer for connectivity in Kenya and beyond.
