The National Communications Authority (NCA), on Tuesday, 17th September, 2024, received a delegation from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) of Namibia on a one-day benchmark visit. The 7- member delegation, led by Mr. Shasimana Uugulu, Deputy Director for Production, sought to gain perspective on best practices in the regulatory field and other possible areas of cooperation.

Welcoming the delegation, the Deputy Director General for Technical Operations, Prof. Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng, expressed the NCA’s pleasure to host MICT for such an event. He added that beyond the conventional regulations, the Authority is exploring new regulatory avenues for the communications sector. This, he said has become important as the world is migrating to digital platforms and regulatory interventions are needed to harness digital services being carried on communication services. Ending his remarks, Prof. Yeboah-Boateng assured the delegation of the NCA’s availability to collaborate with Namibia concerning issues within the industry.

Head of MICT delegation, Mr. Shasimana Uugulu, in his brief remarks, thanked the NCA for the warm reception and noted that MICT sought to benchmark the NCA owing to the many years of remarkable achievements in the telecommunications sector within the sub-region. He was hopeful that his team would gain the required knowledge in their various areas of concern to enable them impact positively on the MICT’s operations and the Namibian telecommunication industry as a whole.
