Botswana’s BotSat-1 Satellite Achieves Key Milestone Ahead of 2025 Launch
Botswana’s space ambitions took a significant step forward as the country’s first satellite, BotSat-1, successfully completed its Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) phase. The satellite is being developed in collaboration between the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) engineering team and Bulgarian satellite manufacturer EnduroSat. EnduroSat has welcomed the BIUST engineers to their space center to oversee this critical stage, which involved comprehensive testing and final inspections to ensure all technical and operational standards are met.
Set for launch in early 2025, BotSat-1 represents a landmark achievement in Botswana’s space development efforts, positioning the country among the growing list of African nations exploring satellite technology.
The successful completion of the AIT phase demonstrates that the satellite is on track, bringing it closer to deployment, where it will play a vital role in enhancing the country’s technological capabilities.
