Zambia Achieves 92.6% in Global Cybersecurity Index, Reflecting Major Progress Since 2014

The Republic of Zambia has made remarkable strides in cybersecurity, achieving a score of 92.6% in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2023. This significant improvement from previous years—68.8% in 2020, 43.6% in 2017, 29.2% in 2016, and just 14.7% in 2014—underscores the nation’s commitment to enhancing its cybersecurity landscape and protecting its digital infrastructure.

Launched by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the GCI evaluates countries based on their commitment to cybersecurity development across five critical pillars: legal measures, technical measures, organizational measures, capacity building, and cooperation. Zambia’s ascent in the GCI reflects a robust government strategy aimed at fortifying the nation’s digital economy and safeguarding its citizens from cyber threats.
