On the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79), Namibia’s President, Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, met with SpaceX and Tesla founder, Elon Musk, to discuss potential investments in Namibia’s growing technology sector. The conversation focused on how Musk’s ventures, particularly Starlink, could assist in bridging the digital divide in the country. Dr. Mbumba emphasized the importance of digital inclusivity and expressed Namibia’s eagerness to collaborate with global technology leaders to advance the nation’s digital infrastructure.

Elon Musk also recently held discussions with Lesotho’s Prime Minister, Sam Matekane, regarding the introduction of Starlink in Lesotho. These high-level meetings signal Musk’s expanding interest in Africa, where Starlink aims to enhance connectivity, especially in underserved regions.
