ICASA Raids StarSAT Amid Licensing Dispute, Operations Under Scrutiny

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has launched a search and seizure operation at StarSAT, SABC News has reported. This move follows StarSAT’s failure to comply with a directive issued by ICASA in September 2024, which ordered the company to cease broadcasting after the expiration of its Individual Subscription Broadcasting License (ISBL).

StarSAT’s ISBL, a crucial regulatory requirement for broadcasting, expired in July 2023. Despite multiple warnings, the company failed to renew the license, leading ICASA to enforce stricter measures.
