Orange, Vodafone, and E& Secure 5G Licenses, Marking a New Era in Egypt’s Connectivity
Egypt has taken another significant step in advancing its telecommunications infrastructure with the formal licensing of fifth-generation (5G) mobile services. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, presided over the signing ceremony that marked the issuance of 5G operational licenses to three major telecom operators: Orange Egypt for Telecommunications, Vodafone Egypt for Telecommunications, and E& Egypt. This milestone reflects Egypt’s commitment to embracing next-generation technologies that will transform connectivity and support the country’s digital transformation agenda.
The total value of the licenses for operating 5G networks granted to the four companies amounts to approximately $675 million. This covers the 5G licenses and the renewal of previous generation licenses for 15 years, without granting any new frequency bands.
With the official launch of 5G services, Egypt is poised to lead the digital transformation in the region, paving the way for a connected and more innovative future. The involvement of leading telecom players like Orange, Vodafone, and E& will ensure that Egypt’s journey toward becoming a tech hub in the Middle East and Africa continues to gain momentum.
