Dr. Bosun Tijani Unveils Nigeria AI Collective with $1.5 Million Backing

Dr. Bosun Tijani, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, announced the launch of the Nigeria AI Collective. This initiative aims to unite expertise from civil society, academia, and technology sectors to promote the responsible advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Nigeria.

The collective seeks to ensure that AI technologies are developed ethically and safely for societal benefit. By fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, the initiative will help establish a robust AI ecosystem tailored to Nigeria’s unique needs.

Supported by partners like Luminate, which has committed $1.5 million, the collective aims to enhance Nigeria’s AI landscape. This marks a significant step for Nigeria as it positions itself as a key player in Africa’s AI sector, focusing on knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and the development of innovation-promoting policies. The Nigeria AI Collective is set to play a crucial role in shaping the future of technology in the country for the benefit of all citizens.
