In celebration of Vodacom’s 30th anniversary, senior executives from Vodacom and Vodafone, including Margherita Della Valle, Group CEO of Vodafone, Joakim Reiter, Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer, and Shameel Joosub, Group CEO of Vodacom, met with President Cyril Ramaphosa and key government officials, Minister Parks Tau and Minister Solly Malatsi.

The discussions centered on expanding the role of digitalisation in South Africa’s development and the company’s continued investment in the region.

President Ramaphosa reportedly shares the confidence in the positive impact digitalisation can have on South Africa, noting its capacity to drive inclusive economic growth, enhance public services, and strengthen the nation’s digital economy. Both parties discussed the importance of collaboration to unlock this potential, with a focus on eliminating regulatory obstacles and ensuring policy certainty in key areas such as spectrum allocation.

Vodacom’s leadership emphasized that such regulatory clarity is essential to encourage greater investment and to accelerate the nation’s digital transformation. The company reiterated its long-term commitment to South Africa, aligning its efforts with the government’s goals of building a robust and inclusive digital economy.

As Vodacom celebrates 30 years of operations, its engagement with South Africa’s leadership highlights its ongoing role as a strategic partner in the country’s digital and economic development.
