Telecom Operators in South Sudan Adjust Tariffs Following Exchange Rate Update
MTN South Sudan, Zain South Sudan, and Digitel Holdings have announced a tariff adjustment following an agreement between the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the Bank of South Sudan (BOSS) to align telecommunications service prices with the official exchange rate. This move comes in response to the recent rise in the BOSS official exchange rate, and after a comprehensive assessment of its impact on customers and the telecom sector.
The adjustment will be rolled out in three phases from October to December 2024, with the first change taking effect on the night of October 18, 2024. Additional adjustments will follow on November 18 and December 18, 2024.
Telecom operators have communicated the first phase of the tariff update through various channels, assuring customers that they remain committed to transparency and timely notifications throughout the process.
In addition to implementing the new pricing structure, the companies reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing customer experience, ensuring service quality, and fostering digital transformation through continued investment in network infrastructure. This effort aims to support inclusivity and maintain the progress of South Sudan’s telecommunications landscape.
