OADC's OAfabric platform will drive digital growth in Africa, providing scalable interconnection services, enhancing connectivity, and fostering global investment as Africa’s digital economy rapidly expands.

Open Access Data Centres (OADC), Africa’s fastest-growing data  centre company, has announced the launch of Open Access Fabric (OAfabric), a truly open-access and collaborative digital platform that promises to redefine African interconnection. Launching in January 2025 in Nigeria and the DRC, OAfabric is set to expand across Africa and globally, establishing interconnection hubs that will address escalating demand for advanced interconnection services, empowering businesses and accelerating Africa’s establishment as a major player in the global digital economy.

Leveraging WIOCC Group’s extensive connectivity expertise and infrastructure, OAfabric will empower clients by enabling improved access to internet ecosystems, leveraging leading African Internet eXchange Points (IXPs), international and local content providers, and offering seamless integration with cloud operators. The fabric will also support critical site-to-site and user-to-user connectivity, offering a transformative solution for businesses in Africa and global companies expanding into the region.

OAfabric is engineered to address the growing demand for advanced interconnection services across Africa by providing a single, reliable, truly scalable and unmatched multi-service interconnection solution. This is the future of Africa’s digital infrastructure, designed to drive down costs, enhance performance and enable local enterprises to grow and thrive, while also attracting global investment that will further accelerate digital transformation across the continent.

– Obinna Adumike, Head of Converged Digital Infrastructure, OADC

Initially hosted in OADC’s colocation data centres, OAfabric promises a full range of service offerings, integrating IX peering, virtual interconnection and future IP services, as well as direct, dedicated and private cloud access. Clients will benefit from integrated premium connectivity services that span provider networks, delivering reliable, flexible and fully-scalable solutions tailored to the specific needs of businesses operating within Africa’s digital landscape. OAfabric also empowers clients with seamless cloud access, enabling direct connections to public cloud on-ramps, while providing a framework for implementing data sovereignty and fostering local provider development, creating a stronger, self-sufficient digital platform in Africa.

OAfabric is uniquely positioned to scale in response to the evolving needs of the African market, offering an interconnection platform that is not only adaptable but also capable of supporting hybrid colocation architectures. This establishes OAfabric as a key enabler of Africa’s digital transformation, delivering future-proof hybrid infrastructures for companies across Africa and for global providers looking to enter the African market, fostering digital growth and addressing Africa’s interconnection challenges head-on.

OAfabric is about establishing vibrant, open-access interconnection ecosystems underpinned by connectivity within an open-access platform that empowers local innovation and growth. We’re building the digital future of Africa, and OAfabric will be a key enabler of this transformation.

– Obinna Adumike, Head of Converged Digital Infrastructure, OADC
