National Girls-In-ICT Programme Gains Momentum in Ashanti Region
The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation promotes the Girls-In-ICT Programme in Ashanti, fostering ICT skills, confidence, and STEM opportunities for young girls through strategic outreach.
The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) is making great strides in promoting the National Girls-In-ICT (GIICT) Programme in the Ashanti Region. Led by Naa Korkoi Essah, the Ministry’s Head of Public Relations, they’ve been engaging with various media outlets in Kumasi to raise awareness about the program’s benefits. The Girls-In-ICT Programme, themed “Leadership,” is all about bridging the gender digital divide by empowering young girls with essential ICT skills, building their confidence, and prepping them for opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Richard Asiamah, Regional Manager for the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), highlighted the government’s commitment to bridging the gender digital divide and GIFEC’s contributions to the initiative. Anthoinet Ohene-Amoah, a Web Master and Lecturer at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE), also noted the programme’s success in inspiring young girls to embrace technology and innovation. This media outreach is part of a broader effort to engage parents, educators, and community leaders, ensuring sustained stakeholder support and expanding the programme’s impact across the country.
