Zambia Unveils AI Strategy to Accelerate Digital Transformation and Economic Growth

Zambia’s AI Strategy, launched by Minister Felix Mutati, aims to drive digital transformation, enhance public services, and create jobs through innovation, partnerships, and sustainable technology.

The Zambian Ministry of Technology and Science has launched the Artificial Intelligence Strategy, a technological detailed and viable roadmap plan that will help the country’s transformation achievements to a digital technology economy.

Speaking in Lusaka, during the AI Strategy launch, ministry of science and technology Minister, Felix Mutati has expressed happiness that the AI technology will help to drive the country’s digital transformation of the economy by creating wealth and jobs.
Mr. Mutati said the AI technology is expediting Global economic paradigm shifts, a precision technological catalyst that the nation must implement by firstly securing an enabling technology environment to achieve the digital revolution.
He said the AI technology will transform and enhance public service delivery across the country.

AI will enhance public service delivery, ensuring efficiency, convenience, and elimination of redundancy, so that we are able to grow the economy quicker and faster.

Hon. Mutati said AI will also correspondingly provide an opportunity for innovators and entrepreneurs to speed up, on innovation technology accuracy, and remain part of the dynamic technological change.
Mr. Mutati observed that the AI high – tech will largely contribute to assimilate data and streamline efficient education teacher – pupil school learning processes, inclusive sustainability service delivery of the health, agriculture, and other sectors.
The Minister commended Zambian experts for their immense input to attain the AI Strategy supported through collaborating partners; Finland, the Tony Blair Foundation and others, who made contributions to enhance on the strategy content to acceptable standards.
Hon. Mutati described the implementation course of the AI Strategy to be implemented on a five – fold building block that includes; the ‘digital trees’ to enhance connectivity, ‘reliable data’ for efficiency and sustainability, and also ‘trust and confidence’ to safeguard the cyberspace. Other roadmap protocols are ‘innovation, entrepreneurship,’ ‘partnership and collaboration’ platform to exchange ideas and ensure innovation is sustained.
Mr. Mutati disclosed that Zambia is among a few African countries that have developed the AI Strategy.
