Zambia Moves to Update IBA Act to Monetize Social Media

Zambia’s government plans to monetize social media by updating the IBA Act. Minister Cornelius Mweetwa assures citizens’ freedom is not being restricted in this process.

Zambia’s Information and Media Minister, Cornelius Mweetwa, announced that the government is working on monetizing social media in the country, ZNBC  has reported.

He emphasized that the government’s goal is not to restrict citizens’ freedom to engage on social media, but rather to update and improve the IBA Act.

As part of this initiative, the government has begun the process of repealing and replacing the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Act.
