MTN Congo has officially launched 5G, making the Republic of Congo the fifth African country in MTN Group’s rollout of ultra-fast broadband technology. The milestone was celebrated at a ceremony presided over by President Denis Sassou N’guesso, with MTN Group Senior Vice President Ebenezer Twum Asante and MTN Congo-Brazzaville CEO Mohammed Rufai in attendance.
This launch underscores MTN’s commitment to enabling a modern connected life across its markets. Following its inaugural 5G launch in South Africa in 2020, MTN has expanded the service to Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia, and now Congo, with trials underway in Benin and South Sudan.
With 3.7 million subscribers in Congo as of September 2024, MTN’s 5G network aims to enhance connectivity and drive digital transformation in the region.
