Ethio Telecom Showcases AI-Powered Sectoral Innovations to Parliamentary Standing Committee
Ethiopian Parliamentary Committee visited Ethio Telecom, commending its digital transformation efforts, AI sectoral integration, and inclusive services while addressing challenges in infrastructure expansion and disproportionate protection costs.
Members of the Standing Committee on Democratic Affairs of the House of Peoples Representatives and Director General of the Ethiopian Communications Authority, Eng. Balcha Reba, conducted a field visit and discussion at Ethio Telecom.
The Standing Committee, chaired by the Chairman of the Standing Committee, His Excellency Mr. Truth Alene, was welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer, Freilife Tamru, and the heads of the company.
Next, they were briefed on infrastructure expansion works to improve access and quality in services, as well as work being done to make telecom and digital services inclusive.
The company is equipping sectors such as agriculture, education, health, industry, mining, transport, tourism with modern artificial intelligence technologies.
During the discussion, support was requested on the challenges faced by the lack of access to infrastructure expansion space and the disproportionate payment of infrastructure protection.
Members of the Standing Committee expressed their appreciation for the company’s accomplishments in realizing the digital transformation.
