Somalia’s NCA Director General, Mustafa Yasin Sheik, joins ITU’s International Advisory Body, advancing global submarine cable resilience and underscoring Somalia’s commitment to digital transformation and connectivity.

Mr. Mustafa Yasin Sheik, Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA) of Somalia, has been selected to join the International Advisory Body for Submarine Cable Resilience. This selection marks a significant milestone for Somalia, highlighting its growing role in global efforts to protect and enhance critical digital infrastructure.

The Advisory Body, established by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC), focuses on addressing the pressing need to bolster the resilience of submarine cables, which carry over 99% of the world’s international data traffic. In a time of increasing cyber threats and geopolitical challenges, the initiative plays a vital role in safeguarding the backbone of global digital communication.

Somalia’s representation on this platform reaffirms our dedication to advancing Somalia’s digital transformation and engaging in international collaborations that strengthen global connectivity.
