MTN Uganda and MultiChoice Uganda have partnered to enable Showmax payments via MOMO, offering customers convenient access to affordable, flexible entertainment with the refreshed Showmax 2.0.

MultiChoice Uganda, the home of great pay-TV entertainment, has announced the launch of a strategic partnership with MTN, enabling customers in Uganda to pay for Showmax using MOMO from MTN. This collaboration aims to enhance customer experience by allowing convenient payments directly from MOMO wallets.

The refreshed Showmax 2.0 is the result of a strategic collaboration between Comcast’s NBC Universal and Sky, leveraging the cutting-edge technology behind Peacock, a globally acclaimed streaming service. This partnership aims to bring world-class entertainment to Ugandan audiences with deep catalogue of content and live Premier League games now available for customers to enjoy.

Speaking at the announcement, Hassan Saleh, the Managing Director of MultiChoice Uganda, expressed excitement about the relaunch, which will allow millions of customers to access the Showmax platform and enjoy affordable, flexible, and accessible entertainment.

The Showmax proposition is so exciting for us because it speaks to the future of our business and how, working together with partners, we are always looking for ways to enhance our customers’ viewing experience through technological innovations and better viewing experiences.

– Hassan Saleh, Managing Director, MultiChoice Uganda

Richard Yego, Managing Director, MTN Mobile Money Uganda, shared his enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the benefits for MTN Mobile Money (MOMO) customers.

Having recently celebrated the 20 million customer milestone, we are thrilled to bring the world of the English Premier League and global entertainment, as well as the best of Uganda’s local content, to refresh and brighten their lives. Indeed, we commend MultiChoice Uganda for this innovative collaboration and their spirit of always enriching lives.

– Richard Yego, Managing Director, MTN Mobile Money Uganda

The refreshed Showmax platform will focus on accessibility by allowing customers to connect from multiple devices, affordability with plans starting from as low as UGX 11,400, and flexibility with multiple ways to pay and even a data-saving option when streaming, including download and watch later options.

Showmax offers a unique combination of original African content including Ugandan shows, first and exclusive international series, popular movies, premium documentaries and the best kids’ shows, and the most recently added, exclusive mobile-only Premier League and other sports.

Showmax is available on PCs, Mobile Devices, smart TVs, gaming consoles, TV boxes, and requires a 2Mbps line speed for optimum viewing experience but with the option to reduce or increase how much data you can consume per hour viewing. The app allows for up to 25 in-app downloads, making the content available on-the-go even without an internet connection.

– Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR & Communications Manager

The MOMO payment option is in addition to the existing Visa and Master card payment, Point of Sale Vouchers as well as the Showmax Add To Bill (ATB) feature which is available only to DStv Customers.
