Airtel Uganda Expands Digital Reach with ZTE Collaboration

Airtel Uganda and ZTE are providing affordable smartphones to expand digital inclusion. The initiative targets financially constrained users, boosting internet access and digital opportunities in Uganda.

Airtel Uganda has partnered with ZTE Corporation, a Chinese telecommunications company, to promote digital inclusion in Uganda by providing affordable smartphones with reliable internet access to Airtel customers, particularly those with financial constraints.

According to the Uganda Communications Commission’s 2024 market report, the number of smartphone owners in Uganda has risen to 16.7 million, from 7.6 million in 2023, underscoring the growing demand for internet access in Uganda.

Airtel Uganda supports several affirmative actions such as device hire purchase, to accelerate digital inclusion. This step paves the way for new opportunities for Ugandans’ access to do digital services and opportunities, confirming Airtel Uganda’s commitment to digital inclusion.
