MTN joins South Africa-Nigeria Bi-National Commission, highlighting Nigeria's digital economy reforms and bilateral cooperation.

MTN Group was delighted to participate in the 11th South Africa-Nigeria Bi-National Commission held in Cape Town on Tuesday, during which the strong bonds between the two countries were reinforced and plans were made to accelerate cooperation.

The MTN delegation – led by Group President & CEO, Ralph Mupita, MTN Nigeria Chairman Ernest Ndukwe and MTN Nigeria CEO Karl Olutokun Toriola – was honoured to engage with HE President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the sidelines of the meeting, which was hosted by South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Hon Parks Tau.

MTN Nigeria is an important MTN subsidiary, accounting for some 27% of all MTN subscribers and some 23% of Group service revenue. During the meeting, which also included Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Hon Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani and Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Hon Dr Olajumoke Oduwole, MTN expressed support for the structural reforms underway in Nigeria. We also backed the objectives of the Bi-National Commission, as well as the role that the digital economy plays in driving inclusive growth.
