Felix Mutati Honored for Leading Zambia’s Digital Transformation at 2024 ICTAZ Awards

Felix Mutati receives ICTAZ award for driving Zambia's digital transformation, including free Wi-Fi initiatives.

Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati received an ICTAZ Leadership award for championing Zambia’s digital transformation that he affirmed is making pathways in the ICT sector to a testament of the recently connected free Wi-Fi network at designated public locations, and other digital transformative strides, focused to improve people’s livelihood in the country.

Speaking during the 2024 ICTAZ ICT awards ceremony, Mr. Mutati said the provision of the statutory instrument (SI) regulation verify the ICT’s sectoral association growth and increased capacity to contribute meaningfully to the sector, a major transformation since independence, he noted.
Hon. Mutati acknowledged Government’s mutual work with ICTAZ in the digital transformation change and implementation, such as development of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy, exerted on collective thought processes among other interventions.
Minister Mutati commended ICTAZ for the recognition and urged the association to continue transforming the digital space of the ICT sector, a technological humanity progression he acknowledged.
He also urged the ICT Technology firms to join hands with the Government and contribute towards the provision of the free Wi-Fi services, expanding the network to other areas, and continue to invest in the digital transformation.
And in his remarks ICTAZ president Clement Sinyangwe said ICTAZ is now providing the new chapters of ICT governance in Zambia as result of the exhibited leadership by the Minister (Hon. Felix Mutati), who has been championing an impact on the ICT sector’s growth and progress in technology, innovation, at the backdrop of the association’s realignment of its mandate to respond to Government’s National digital transformative agenda.
Dr. Sinyangwe commended the Government for the provision of the pledged gazette statutory instrument No. 72 and 76 of 2024 that stipulates pillars of; professional ethics, compliance, general membership and regulations among others.
The 2024 ICT – ICTAZ awards additionally recognized and awarded, Napsa, Natsave, Copperbelt university, Probase, Digital Safe, and StarLabs. Others include individual’s immense contributions to the ICT digital transformation.
