Somalia’s largest telecom firm, Hormuud Telecom, plans to expand solar-powered data centers to meet rising local and global AI demands. Despite challenges in the region, CEO Ahmed Mohamud Yusuf affirms the company’s commitment to renewable energy and digital transformation, Bloomberg  has reported.

These green data centers will support sustainable tech growth, positioning Hormuud as a key player in AI-driven innovation and Somalia’s digital future.

This commitment reflects not only Hormuud’s resilience in a challenging environment but also its aspiration to be a leader in leveraging technology for sustainable development, ensuring Somalia is equipped to meet the future demands of the digital age.
