Vice President W.K. Mutale Nalumango has called on stakeholders to support skills development as Zambia gears up to host the World Skills Africa competition in Livingstone in 2025. Speaking at a fundraising luncheon, she emphasized the event’s potential to transform youth capabilities and drive economic growth, drawing lessons from global successes like Spain and China.
The competition will feature a continental TEVET skills contest, international conference, and industry expos with participants from across Africa. Technology Minister Felix Mutati highlighted progress in skills access through constituency fund bursaries and partnerships with JICA, Hitachi, and the World Bank.
Dr. Eng. Brilliant Habeenzu described the initiative as a transformative movement to reshape Zambia’s skills training and align with national development goals. The event is expected to position Zambia as a leader in African skills development.
