Dennis Kakonge Appointed General Manager and Company Secretary at MTN Mobile Money Uganda
MTN Mobile Money Uganda appoints Dennis Kakonge as General Manager, bringing extensive legal expertise from Airtel and MTN’s affiliates.
The Board of Directors of MTN Mobile Money Uganda Limited announces the appointment of Mr. Dennis Abigaba Kakonge as General Manager, Corporate Services, and Company Secretary, at MTN Mobile Money Uganda Limited effective 1st December 2024, subject to Bank of Uganda approval.
Mr. Kakonge brings extensive legal and regulatory expertise, having previously served as Senior Manager, Legal and Regulatory Affairs, at MTN Uganda and as Company Secretary for MTN’s affiliates, including MTN Publicom and MTN Village Phone. Most recently, he was the Company Secretary and Legal/Regulatory Director at Airtel Uganda, where he also oversaw its subsidiaries and affiliates. He also chaired the Board of Trustees for the Airtel Uganda Staff Provident Fund.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Makerere University, a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and an MBA from Herriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. An Advocate of the High Court of Uganda, Mr. Kakonge is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East Africa Law Society.
