Ethiopia’s Digital Transformation Gains Momentum with Ethio Telecom Collaboration
Ethio telecom and Ethiopia’s Innovation Ministry unite to expand digital services, e-government, and Smart City projects, accelerating Digital Ethiopia 2025.
A high-level delegation led by the Honorable Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Belete Molla, held strategic discussions with Ethio telecom CEO, Frehiwot Tamiru, to explore collaborative efforts in advancing Ethiopia’s digital transformation.
Dr. Belete hailed Ethio telecom as a national pride and pivotal force in the Digital Ethiopia 2025 journey, emphasizing its achievements in digital services and the innovative telebirr platform. He outlined plans to enhance digital accessibility and foster inclusion across sectors such as e-government, e-commerce, startups, and digital skills development.
Frehiwot Tamiru presented Ethio telecom’s initiatives to expand digital infrastructure, particularly in rural areas, and highlighted its contributions to key sectors, including agriculture, health, education, and Smart City projects. The delegation also toured the company’s Experience Center, recognizing Ethio telecom as a model institution capable of evolving with modern demands.
The institutions agreed to establish a joint platform to drive citizen-centered innovations and accelerate Ethiopia’s digital transformation, with an eye on international expansion.
