Camtel Approves CFA 326.2 Billion Budget for 2025: Focus on Network Upgrades and Service Quality
Cameroon’s state-owned telecom group, Camtel, has announced a landmark budget of CFA 326.2 billion for 2025, signaling a strong commitment to upgrading its network infrastructure and improving service delivery. The approved budget includes plans for installing new antennas and modernizing existing equipment to better meet the growing demands of customers.
In addition to the 2025 budget, Camtel’s board unveiled a strategic three-year roadmap, the Performance Program 2025-2027. This initiative aims to build on the company’s recent successes by diversifying its service offerings, enhancing operational efficiency, and reinforcing transparency and good governance practices.
As the operator of Cameroon’s national fiber-optic backbone, Camtel plays a pivotal role in the telecom ecosystem, providing services not only to its clients but also to competitors such as Orange Cameroon and MTN Cameroon. Despite facing criticism over service quality from industry players, the company’s financial performance tells a compelling story of growth. Revenue has nearly doubled over five years, climbing from CFA 108 billion in 2018 to CFA 207 billion in 2023. During this period, Camtel’s capital also surged from CFA 67 billion to CFA 117 billion.
Camtel’s profitability has remained strong, recording a net profit of CFA 11 billion in 2023, of which CFA 4 billion was transferred to the public treasury. These financial achievements underscore the company’s resilience and its ability to drive forward key projects that enhance Cameroon’s digital landscape.
With its ambitious budget and strategic roadmap, Camtel is positioning itself to strengthen its role as a key player in Cameroon’s telecommunications sector while addressing the evolving needs of its customers and stakeholders.
