NCC Approves USSD Code Disconnection for Nine Financial Institutions Over Unpaid Debts

NCC disconnects USSD codes for nine banks over unpaid debts, citing regulatory non-compliance among half of 18 reviewed institutions.

Multiple reports have confirmed that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has approved the disconnection of Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) codes for nine financial institutions. This action reportedly addresses a backlog of unpaid debts within the sector.

According to the reports, the decision follows non-compliance by nine of the 18 financial institutions under review. The reports stated that these institutions could not meet the regulatory obligations.
