Minister Bosun Tijani supports a 30-60% telecom tariff hike, emphasizing the sector’s 16% GDP contribution and substantial employment impact.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has addressed concerns about the proposed telecommunications tariff hike, stating that any increase should remain between 30% and 60%, the Nigerian Tribune reported.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Tijani emphasized the crucial role the telecom sector plays in Nigeria’s economy, contributing 14% to 16% of GDP.

He highlighted that the industry directly employs over 15,000 individuals and indirectly supports approximately 500,000 more across the country.
