Kenya’s Communications Authority Proposes New Telecom Equipment Licence

Kenya’s CA proposes a Telecommunication Equipment Distributor (TED) licence to regulate telcos, importers, and manufacturers of terminal and network equipment.

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has introduced a proposed Telecommunication Equipment Distributor (TED) licence aimed at regulating suppliers of communication devices, Business Daily has reported.

According to the report, The new licence will apply to wholesale distributors, importers, foreign manufacturers, and local producers of telecom equipment.

The proposal is expected to impact telecommunications companies, phone manufacturers, dealers, and suppliers of both terminal and network equipment. If implemented, the licence can potentially streamline the sector by ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
