ARPCE met MTN Congo to review network improvements after a quality audit revealed service failures. A new evaluation begins February 20.

The Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Agency (ARPCE) received experts from the mobile telephone operator MTN Congo at its head office on February 3, 2025, to take stock of the corrective measures undertaken by the operator, following the quality of service evaluation campaigns carried out at the end of 2024 by the Regulatory Authority.

Between October 23 and November 10, 2024, ARPCE conducted a quality audit on the services offered by mobile phone operators. Operator MTN, having presented numerous failures in the quality of its services, was ordered to correct all the problems noted. On February 3, 2025, at the invitation of the regulator, the operator presented a set of concrete actions deployed in 20 localities evaluated during the first and fourth quarter campaigns.

Thus, among the major advances, the operator demonstrated to the Regulator the extension of its 4G coverage to new areas, including the localities of: Ewo, Sembe, Enyele and Betou.

MTN experts told the Regulator that additional sites have also been installed to strengthen network coverage and improve its quality in Tchamba-Nzassi, Fouta, Makoua, Pokola and Kinkala. These deployments are accompanied by an overall optimization of performance indicators.

The Director of Electronic Communication Networks and Services of ARPCE, Mr. Benjamin MOUANDZA, stressed the importance of drive-test campaigns as a tool for objectively assessing quality of service, stating:

Quality of service is at the heart of our mission. We will continue our close collaboration with all operators to guarantee users a reliable and efficient service.

– Mr. Benjamin MOUANDZA, Director, Electronic Communication Networks and Services, ARPCE,

In this same approach, the ARPCE has planned to meet the operator Airtel on February 12, to examine the improvement actions undertaken by the company.

ARPCE’s ongoing commitment to monitoring and improving the quality of services provided by Congo Brazzaville operators remains constant. It is with this in mind that another evaluation campaign will begin on February 20, 2025.
