Ghana Tackles Internet Costs: New Committee to Assess Data Pricing Models

Ghana forms a data pricing committee, chaired by Minister Sam George, to assess costs and create a roadmap for affordable internet access.

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon Sam George (MP) chairs inter-Agency data pricing committee, inaugurated with the task to assess prevailing pricing models and make recommendations.

The Committee has 14 working days to produce a road map that will lead to the reduction in the cost of data and make it accessible for all citizens.

The committee is made up of representatives of the Ministry of Finance; Energy; NCA; PURC; Chamber Telecommunications; National Union of Ghana Students; Ghana Bloggers Association; Ghana Payment & Fintech Association and Association of Content Creators.

In attendance were the Chief Director, Alexander Yaw Arphul and Director, General Administration, Alfred Nortey.
